A green focus

We have several activities and processes in place to promote a sustainable development  and reduce the environmental strain of our business. The garments must protect our customers, but also our planet.

SPAR's work uniform will be Fairtrade certified

We are so happy to say that together with SPAR, we, as the supplier of their work uniforms, have become the first to produce uniforms in Norway that are Fairtrade certified. Together with SPAR and Fairtrade, we ensure that the uniforms are more sustainably produced, while the garments are of the same good quality. They must withstand hard use and many washes.

Through this process we have become Fairtrade certified, which we are very proud of.

What is Fairtrade certification?

And what does this mean for you as a consumer?

Fairtrade is an international organization that works to achieve decent incomes for small-scale farmers, fight poverty, prevent/uncover and secure children's rights and ensure that climate measures are present. Fairtrade is a tool for companies that want to reduce the risk of human rights violations in their own value chains. There are strict principles to be followed for physical traceability where the raw materials must be fully traceable throughout the value chain.

Fairtrade certifies companies that meet strict requirements for sustainable production and traceability.

Fairtrade can therefore be a useful guide for consumers. The Fairtrade mark shows that the goods meet both social, environmental and economic requirements during production.

In order to meet the constanly increasing demand for environmentally-friendly work clothes, TenCate Protective Fabrics has developed three new and innovative workwear-materials: Tecawork® Ecogreen, Tecasafe® Ecogreen and Tecapro® Ecogreen, the world's first sustainable flame-retardant finished fabrics. The best quality and the most comfortable workwear with the smallest environmental footprint is the ambitious goal of Tecasafe® Ecogreen.

TenCate is a market leader in sustainable, protective piece goods solutions, and helps value chain partners to produce environmental workwear and PPE that really add value. Tecasafe® considers sustainability from all points of view–from the end users who need safe products to improving the environment by means of development, optimalised sustainable production, use and recycling.

Environmental product declaration for sustainable textile production. To clearly and demostably substantiate their claims, Tecsafe has developed a  EPD® (Environmental Product Declaration)–also referred to as a type III declaration–an independently verified and registered document that provides  transparency and comparable information about the environmental impact of a product. It includes, for instance, the impact of the production, such as gathering raw materials, use of energy and effciency, contents of materials and chemical substances, air pollutants, earth and water and waste management. An environmental product declaration (EPD®) gives users transparency in relation to how environmental concerns are made with regards to the production of fabrics for work clothes with protective characteristics.

The best alternative to cotton is

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are the best fibres in terms of moisture-wicking–not only does it absorb
50% more than cotton fibres, the moisture evaporates more quickly and makes it cooler
and drier. The fibre is also silky soft against the skin as opposed to cotton.

The garments maintain the colour even after many industrial washes over a long period of time.  The colour pigmentation is thoroughly in TENCEL ™ Lyocell fibres, which maintain long-lasting colourrendering–more than common cotton fibres and less likely to discolour even after repeated washing.

TENCEL™ is the best ecological option to cotton. Of the solvents used to produce TENCEL™ Lyocell, 99% are recycled and reused. All TENCEL™ Lyocell-fibres have been picked from woods and sustainable plantations without the use of chemicals.

reduces the use of water
The water consumption in the production of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres is 46 l/kg and much lower than for the production of cotton, which is 994 l/kg. To swap cotton with TENCEL™ Lyocell reduces the impact production has on water shortage.

Tecasafe® Ecogreen was the first with flame-retardant finished fabric and sustainable TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres. It provides more comfort and makes the garment more durable, as well as having a lower ecological footprint than normal cotton.

Soft and breathable garments with superior moisture-wicking properties.

Proactive workThe relevant standard for Environmental Product Declarations is ISO 14025. EcoGreen has been certified in accordance with the ISO 1400 standard. Rules for product categories give a base structure for all EPDs. They set out rules, requirements and guidelines for each specific product category. EPD®-documents are always verified by external experts. Due to this external audit, the declaration yields trust and transparency required of experts in the fields of purchasing, product design, etc.,  to avoid all forms of greenwashing.

Made with the future in mindEnd users should feel comfortable now and in the future.
